ABOUT ELSIE SOARS FOUNDATION

BUILD CONNECTIONS. BUILD COMMUNITY.

Elsie Soars Foundation (ESF) is a non-profit established in memory of Elise M. Gonzales Commodore, who was born with a severely rare lymphatic disease.

Unfortunately, Elise passed away just shy of her 4th birthday.

In Elise’s honour, the foundation aims to help young African-American girls and boys establish a healthy foundation of faith, confidence, discipline and well-being.

Our mentors will equip these young minds with the necessary tools through our programming by connecting with like-minded peers who desire to succeed and achieve fruitful lives.

We will partner with various organizations and healthcare networks within North and South Carolina to support our initiatives.

The Elsie Soars Foundation's purpose is to create beneficial partnerships and relationships for all who contribute to the memory of preserving Elise’s spirit through future generations.

Our mission is to serve the African-American community with high-impact programs, resources and services geared toward young boys & girls from the ages of 6-17.

“We need to do a better job of putting ourselves higher on our own ‘to do’ list. Find people who will make you better.”

— Michelle Obama, Former First Lady of the United States

Elsie’s Story

G O D . F A M I L Y . P H I L A N T H R O P Y .

Elsie was a beautifully smart, and courageous daughter, who was born with a Generalized Lymphatic Anomaly. Her condition required intensive medical care that restricted her to the hospital permanently.

Elsie never came home.

Our princess spent her first three years fighting each day to live. She fought to defy medical predictions by bringing joy and inspiration to visitors, the amazing medical team at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and her devoted online community.

During this time, our family and countless individuals devoted love and time to helping Elsie overcome this horrid disease.

Unfortunately, science was unable to find a cure to save our little girl.

Albeit brief, we are grateful for the time we were given to experience the joy Elsie brought into the world. She taught us all many lessons about strength and perseverance.

Our family is eternally grateful.

Through the Elsie Soar’s Foundation, we seek to treasure the memory of our little girl while acknowledging the deepest respect and appreciation for the care teams, not-for-profits, family, friends, strangers, prayer warriors,  and all who gave care packages to support us during this significant time in our lives.

May you all be truly blessed.
